Already wanted for a reported robbery at Kyle Wilson Elementary School in Woodbridge earlier this year, Diaz-Gonzalez is now facing severe consequences after being busted for a bank robbery, authorities announced on Monday.

Police say that shortly before 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, officers were called to the Burke & Herbert Bank in the 14000 block of Smoketown Road in Woodbridge to investigate when an alarm went off.

Upon arrival, officers found Diaz-Gonzalez inside the bank after hours, and he was arrested without incident.

According to investigators, Diaz-Gonzalez damaged the ATM to gain entry into the bank, and once inside, he allegedly caused more damage, though nothing was stolen.

Following his arrest, it was later determined that Diaz-Gonzalez was wanted in connection to a knifepoint robbery of a 47-year-old woman at the elementary school, and later using her credit cards at a Woodbridge business.

Diaz-Gonzalez was charged with:

  • Armed bank robbery;
  • Possession of burglarious tools;
  • Robbery;
  • Attempted carjacking;
  • Carrying a weapon on school grounds;
  • Credit card theft;
  • Two counts of credit card fraud.

He is being held without bond and his next court date is pending.
